NEW WEBSITE TO HELP FUND PROJECTS, NEEDS IN SEATTLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Private, public partnership to benefit Seattle Public Schools with just a click of a mouse!
Seattle, WA – School Kids Come First, a new, locally-developed web site focused primarily on the needs of underserved schools in the Seattle Public Schools, will be launched next Tuesday (January 18th) to help raise money for experiences and enhancements for students.
The dollars raised through the site are intended to fund projects and needs our schools are currently addressing – or want to address – that help supplement students’ work in the classroom.
The site is based on a similar site in New York City that has helped to raise over $2 million for public schools.
WHO: Dick Lee and Rich Carr, co-founders of SchoolKidsComeFirst.com, website and representatives of the Seattle Public Schools and City of Seattle. School Board members Irene Stewart and Jan Kumasaka, Superintendent Raj Manhas and Chief Academic Officer Steve Wilson, will also be on hand.
WHAT: The official launch and online tutorial of School Kids Come First, designed to give donors, parents, alumni, and local businesses a quick and easy way to directly fund projects and needs at Seattle Public Schools.
WHEN: Tuesday, January 18, 2005
WHERE: Two opportunities to witness the launch on site
9:00 a.m. at High Point Elementary School (6760 34th Avenue Southwest in West Seattle); or,
2:30 p.m. at Rainier View Elementary School (11650 Beacon Avenue South in South Seattle).
