I am the librarian at Greenwood Elementary. To supplement how I serve our students, I want to begin teaching computer skills in our computer lab. Because of time constraints, I will focus on reaching our primary students in grades K-3. Currently, our computer software in the lab is quite limited and we are interested in purchasing licenses to software called KidSpiration.
Kidspiration 2 is created for K-5 learners and provides an easy way to apply the proven principles of visual learning. Students build graphic organizers by combining pictures, text and spoken words to represent thoughts and information. Younger learners develop early literacy skills, and more advanced students improve comprehension skills and organize their ideas for writing. I think our students will enjoy this valuable resource and improve their learning skills. We currently have nothing like this program in our lab and our entire staff believes it would be greatly beneficial to our Greenwood students.
I am seeking to fund 25 licenses of Kidspiration 2, one each for 25 of our computers, which with S H, Tax and 15% fulfillment, would cost $620.00. This donation will fully fund our efforts to improve reading through this innovative program.
