I teach a Special Education classroom at Meany Middle School for students with emotional and behavioral disorders.

Teaching in my classroom has to take place in many different ways. I would love to add some games that increase life skills for my students and two books to help me with their individual educational needs. My wish list all comes from LinguiSystems catalog, which carries products geared to students like mine.

Games are a valuable tool for teaching, sometimes without the students even realizing they are learning. These games are uniquely designed to help students not just learn in school, but learn to participate in the life around them.

What’s Up: A That’s LIFE! Game of Social Language teaches students social interaction and communication skills as they play. THAT’S LIFE!: A Game of Life Skills teaches language skills for the real world, including consumer affairs, government, health concerns, money matters, going places, and homemaking. WORD SCRAMBLE:

A Phonological Awareness and Word Building Game is designed for slightly younger students; it teaches word-building and listening skills on a phonological level.

The two books, The Behavior Disorder IEP Companion and The LD Teacher’s IEP Companion:

Adolescent & Adult, will help my students and me to plan their education for both academic and life skills, to create success for them both in the classroom and outside it.

The three games cost $44.95 each, the two books $39.95 each. The total cost comes to $246.96 including shipping and handling, tax, and 15% fulfillment.

Thank you for helping my students learn by playing!
